The BattEQ line of charge equalizers improve performance and extend life for battery-powered equipment. It uses a patented energy shuttle process to restore and maintain proper charge balancing across a battery string. Depending on the application, BattEQ can increase life by 30 to 500%.

BattEQ is a non-dissipative circuit that precisely balances charge in series strings of rechargeable batteries while avoiding traditional wasteful overcharge equalization. Charge equalization is an essential element of effective battery management. BattEQ provides a precise, modular, low-cost solution that applies to all major battery chemistries.

BattEQ has proven to be very effective with lead acid batteries in many applications. It also works with lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries and is being tested with nickel metal hydride (NiMH). It has great significance for Li-Ion batteries because overcharge equalization does not work and Li-Ion cells are much more expensive than lead-acid. Essentially the same BattEQ unit suffices for any battery chemistry.

This post covers building a NiMH battery pack through an end-end soldering technique. It is version 2.0 because the guys prior version, where the batteries were encased in PVC tubing, was a failure.
